If you are estonian in Russia, you better wear some blue, so you can quickly hide. Photo by Aapo Ilves, 12. 08. 2012, Pskov, Russia.

Human-Dolls

No puppets, no sculptures - just real walking-talking-dancing human dolls. Do you understand the system? Photo by Aapo Ilves. Mooste, South-Estonia, 22. 08. 09.

Tha salt of the language

"Cannot the language of this land / In the wind of incantation / Rise up to the heavens / Seek for eternity?" asked the first Estonian poet Kristjan Jaak Peterson back in 1818. And I say it surely can, and with a sneer on it's face.
Not the first but one of the best Estonian linguists Mati Hint (on the right) and a legendary editor and journalist Oskar Tanner stand in front of the late star-translator Urmas Rattus's house in Saaremaa. And the Estonian language keeps on seeking for eternity, at least as long as men like that look so good.

Bamboo sax

Spring doesn't only get the mini-skirted girls out from their caves, it is also the time for street musicians. This young Tartu artist Tiit Joala had his bamboo sax with him today and I am not lying when I tell you that he was playing "Summertime" when I took the picture. Bamboo saxes are made by a hippie genius Eric the Flute Maker, they are a hundred times more comfortable to carry with you than the originally shaped instruments and they sound like heaven. Nude Guest at Russian Embassy

Estonians have very warm feelings towards Russia so if we visit our XXL-sized neighbour's embassy we take off clothes and rub the body with blood, sorry, red paint. Especially the girl. Photo by Rosin (Kass Ting), 12 January 2009 in front our Russian embassy in Tallinn old town.

Tired Santa Beggar

Global economic crises mean loss of jobs for many but too much workload for the beggar Santa Claus featured in our blog already. Looks like he has read a book called Saku Rock.

Santa Claus Beggar / Kriisiaegne jõuluvana

Santa Claus was spotted today begging for money on the way to Tallinn's poshy Old Town. Says it's his forth day at "work", daily income 50-60€. Nice boots, though. Photo by Rosin (Kass Ting) 8th December, 2008.

Tänane leid, Viru tänava nurgalt.
Kriisi Jõuluvana: Inimesed, andke Jõuluvanale pappi!
Rosin: Mis eksperiment see on?
Külm on, muidu on tasuv töö. Üleeile sain tonni, eile sain 700.- . Inimesed on ikka lollid. Kui sa kümneka annad, oled lahke, aga kui 100.- annad oled loll.

Kissing an Arab

As we have almost no Arabs in Estonia, we sometimes dress up like them. This is usually welcomed by the crowd with kisses, embraces and vegetable gifts. Photo by Rosin (Kass Ting), July 2008.
