Folkman Batman

A pink Hello Kitty T-shirt and a red cape which used to be Finnair's plane blanket. It's practical when you need to lay yourself on the grass.

Fingernails Of A Rockstar

If you are a famous rocstar, but must play seto - old ethnic nation of south-estonia - on a folk music festival, for not to lose your face, you may paint your fingernails glamourously. But if you're clever, you do it so it plays together with you ethnic outfit & cloths color. We love you, Lenna! Photo by Aapo Ilves, 23. 07. 2009,Viljandi.

Foxy Mustang, Kapoti-Kalev exclusive

"What's the trouble?"

"Sorry for dragging you into it."

"Goosh, I'm in trouble. You know, I just went with that guy and drove his American car to the beach and then the police came."

If you go to Viljandi, be sure to have your friend to drive your Mustang. I started off my Viljandi Folk Music festival shouting "Mustangs are for gays!". Immediately after that an unknown madman broke a side mirror of a red Ford Mustang I had addressed. Couldn't stop him, sorry. It appeared that the car belonged to Kalev Rebane, the famous national hero opposing the Bronze Soldier.
So, long talk cut short, I spotted the guy several times during the event and finally took some pics of him when he was in trouble with the police on Viljandi beach.

how to pee outdoors 3

Find the only remaining "piimapukk" in the village.

Piimapukk (Milk + bench/trestle) is a simple construction. Usually made from wood, the one on the picture is one of the very rare metallic ones. These things appeared in the 1960s when milk trucks were taken to use. Farmers brought their milk jugs there so that a dairy factory car could pick them up and take them to the factory. As this doesn't pay off anymore, the things are slowly rotting.
When our village was still "blooming" the "moving foodshop" (a car or bus that drives around villages and sells food like a store) stopped there. People from close by farms gathered there every Wednesday to gossip and do their grocery shopping. As I've read they were a good place to meet up and gossip in other places as well.
An article about them in Estonian: http://www.ohtuleht.ee/index.aspx?id=142957

We are the stuffed men

Photo taken by my parents in Metsakivi/Kirepi village (Lake Peipsi area) 13 July 2009. The straw men look pretty alive and spooky, too. Should be taken to modern sculpture exhibition.

Bench-Tower

Bench-tower, powered by "specialists" after Midsummer Night (23/24. 06) in Räpina, South Estonia. Note to organizer-of-the-celebration: always organize the benches away at the morning or day after, if you can. Otherways...
