Weatherproof Snowmen
A sad feature about snowmen is that they die when spring comes. Therefore the evolutionary process has developed fitter snowmen made of fashion industry raw materials. I wonder what do they do in summer?

Merry SS-mas
The first uses of the swastika date back to the Neolithic period. If one tattoos it on one's head then, at least for me, it shows the person sort of reverses brain functions to a neurophysical caveman state. As the swastika and SS do have violent and destructive connotation in Western culture, the looks of that youngster make me feel all but happy. Though the cutting marks on his chest are way more convincing than a pair of Versace glasses or Manolo Blahnik shoes.

Some creative stamping
Underground club Juuksur in Tallinn uses a stamp with its logo as a ticket for concerts.
Usually not as creative but still good for remembering in the morning where you went last night.

Summer Cannibal
Stanislav says hello from Tallinn in July where you could go topless. At the moment the weather station promises heavy minus degrees. I like the looks of this youngster, there is something alarming in him that somehow reminds me natives from a cult movie called "Cannibal Holocaust". And yet he's so sweet.

Cachetic Panther
Skinny guys are sexy, can't help it. Now look at this chap, doesn't he drive your thoughts towards bed? Wearing pyjamas on a book presentation is a good idea and kinky glam panther/leopard patterns are evergreen. Photo by Rosin (Kass Ting) in December 2008.

Nude Casual
Traditional Estonian swimming suit is the same that was worn by Adam and Eve before they messed it up at god's place. It's not a hippie camp, it's a literary seminar (Lätete pääl) and there are some distinguished Estonian writers in the picture. Photo by Priit Salumaa, July 2007 in Ketta

Breaking the Law
It seems that if you wear enough fur you can consider yourself an animal and do not have to obey traffic signs meant for people and vehicles. That overcoat is absolutely fabulous and practical, though. Would love to see a corresponding hat with that. Photo by Andres Putting, 8. December 2008.

Elegant Napping
The idea one feeling good has not only to do with the looks but also how you present yourself. In the photo above you can see a typical representative of coat-wearing zavood-person. His looks are not flashy, and he emphasizes his looks with his über calm behavior. What else would strike out you and your looks, than a nap on a beer soaked pool table in the middle of a multi-crowded bar.

Estonian-Finnish Battle
Well, no battle really, as the men in black are armed only with spoons and all are using rough jokes as ammunition. Guys on the left are wearing traditional Estonian ring hats (murumüts), made usually of six pieces.

The Friends' Market (Sõbralaat, Sepramarkkinat) on north coast of Estonia and south coast of Finland dates back to the beginning 20th century. The tradition of crossborder festival and handycraft market was revived after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The vintage photo was taken by Carl Sarap on the same event on Mahu beach more than a hundred years ago; snatched from Kunda Club website.

Leaving Las Tallinn
She's in a hurry to catch a bus, bag open and boots loose, but still she has style. Lovely details like the red handbag, the colourful scarf and that grey round object, probably a sleeping bag or a blanket. Photo by Andres Putting, 11 December 2008, Tallinn.

Tired Santa Beggar
Global economic crises mean loss of jobs for many but too much workload for the beggar Santa Claus featured in our blog already. Looks like he has read a book called Saku Rock.

Fur Hats Forever
Respect to all furry animals! They are wiser than humans who have lost most of their hair in so called evolution and even shaving off the few that are left. On the other hand humans are wise enough to produce false fur. A fur hat was neglected for a while but it's making a great come back in Estonia and all around the world. Keep your head and feet warm and you'll survive. Photo by Rosin (Kass Ting) on a book presentation in December 2008.

Cold Days - Layer Cake
One wonderful characteristics of the Estonian climate can be described as "shitty ski weather" ("sitt suusailm"). During the last 15 years or so the sunny / snowy Estonia has turned into a muddy / rainy Estonia. This means that our weather is usually quite cold but the lack of snow doesn't allow us to go outside and ski. This is why we stay inside and drink.
Ok, but our winter is still wonderful - the cold enough weather makes people dress up in layers. That enables the use of different styles at once - for outdoor and indoor conditions. In addition, alcohol makes girls easy.
The photo above describes an outer shell - warm and woolly enough to keep the cold outside and heat inside. The photo below depicts the inner shell, which lets it all out, the sense of style and feminine grace, the sex appeal of the subject.
Conclusion: The shitty ski weather helps us wear different styles at once - something from summer and winter wardrobes. It also helps the ugly Estonian men to get laid once in a while.

Santa Claus Beggar / Kriisiaegne jõuluvana
Santa Claus was spotted today begging for money on the way to Tallinn's poshy Old Town. Says it's his forth day at "work", daily income 50-60€. Nice boots, though. Photo by Rosin (Kass Ting) 8th December, 2008.
Tänane leid, Viru tänava nurgalt.
Kriisi Jõuluvana: Inimesed, andke Jõuluvanale pappi!
Rosin: Mis eksperiment see on?
Külm on, muidu on tasuv töö. Üleeile sain tonni, eile sain 700.- . Inimesed on ikka lollid. Kui sa kümneka annad, oled lahke, aga kui 100.- annad oled loll.

Glam-Punk Twin-Style
Using twins is an unexploited but a very powerful styling tool that an experienced stylist can use just as well as he can use a piece of clothing or some make-up. The stylist can build the whole concept on just one feature of the subject-pair.

Natural Fur Is Cool
An apology for all animal rights activists but wearing white natural fur is the right attitude with the cold Estonian winter approaching. That is what the albino European Polecat (Mustela putorius, tuhkur in Estonian) is doing. The lovely pet and its mistress are visiting artist Sandra Jõgeva's book presentation. Lady from the Russian Border. Deep Purple
Estonian Russian-speakers have a distinct Slavic sense of style that adds a nice touch to our mostly Scandinavian looks. This lady was born with natural fashionista sense and follows the style at full scale: coat, makeup, nails... The photo was taken by Rosin (Kass Ting) in Estonian-Russian border town Narva. Bombed down during WWII the town now is an interesting post-Soviet stalker zone, a hidden treasure for nostalgic shopping and street style hunting.
